What is the BCG Vaccine?

The BCG Vaccine is the oldest and most widely used vaccine in the world and used since 1921 to prevent tuberculosis. It was made using a bovine strain, from cows, of tuberculosis that dose not cause deadly infections thumans. The effect of the vaccine when given in infancy have been proven to boost the immune system through epigenetic changes which reduce the susceptibility to respiratory pathogens.

Why is It Important in the Fight Against COVID-19?

In nations with the vaccine mandated the recovery rate is increased and the death rate is decreased. The impact of the vaccine itself on COVID-19 is currently being studied, but with the evidence provided so far it seems that a national mandate for the BCG vaccine allows nations to better survive the pandemic. If a national mandate was written into law this could provide the next generation of Americans a better chance to fight off the next pandemic.
